HOOBASTANK Commence Work On Sophomore Album

HOOBASTANK are in Los Angeles writing material for their second album, due this summer on Island Records. The band plan to begin recording with producer Howard Benson (P.O.D., SEPULTURA, LESS THAN JAKE) in early March. The album will be the follow-up to their million-selling 2001 debut, which spawned the hit singles "Crawling in the Dark" and "Running Away". Among the ten cuts already penned for the new album are "Just One", "What Happened to Us?" , "A Moment" and "Force Feed Me", which is inspired by singer Doug Robb's upbringing.

"It pertains to a lot of people within my family," Robb told Rolling Stone. "My dad used to be a Presbyterian minister and I was brought up with this Christian, 'we are right' mentality — up until a point where I said, 'I'm just gonna decide what I think is right for me.' I'm just not down with that lack of respect for other people's beliefs, so it's basically an anti-religious recruitment song."

With regards to the musical direction of the album, Robb said, "We're just kind of writing songs now and not really paying attention to styles. It definitely sounds like us, but I think some of the heavy stuff is pretty heavy and some of the light stuff is pretty light."

HOOBASTANK plan to finish recording in April and begin a tour in June.
